In conjunction with the finals of the Nordic Game Discovery Contest (which debuted in October 2016) and in celebration of game innovators in the Nordic region and around the world, Indie Day becomes Discovery Day at NG17.
Update: Learn all about the winner of the 2016 Indie Sensation Award right here!
The biggest overall change to the NG format in 2016 was that the popular Indie Night event was expanded to an entire Indie Day & Showcase on 20 May, dedicated to the vibrant indie scene in the Nordic region and abroad – sponsored by our good friends at Unity and Ixty.
Created in cooperation with Copenhagen Game Collective, the Indie Day program included a strong speaker line-up with some of the hottest and most interesting indie names. All Indie Day speakers included Vander Caballero (Papo & Yo), Alen Ladavac (The Talos Principle) and Martin Fasterholdt, gameplay designer at Danish Playdead.
Indie Day Showcase
A selection of great new indie games were available to play, with their developers in tow! Highlighting the showcase were the games nominated for the 2016 Indie Sensation Award; eight awesome indie titles selected by Copenhagen Game Collective. All Nordic Game 2016 conference attendees were also be able to play the eight nominated games during the conference and vote for their favorite!
Indie Discovery Session
Selected independent Nordic developers as well as representatives from the global game development community presented their projects to a string of publishers and investors in the Indie Discovery Session at NG16.

Indie Day Showcase and Indie Sensation Award
After a short presentation about the Indie Sensation Award, a few sponsored talks, a bit more time to play and vote, the 2016 Indie Sensation Award winner was announced, and received a beautiful diploma as well as a 7-inch Netsurfer 4G dual-sim tablet, courtesy of Ixty.
Nordic Game 2016 Indie Day culminated with a final after-party in the evening. Full of games, fun and surprises!
