Spring Program Spotlight

Welcome to the nineteenth edition of Nordic Game, Europe’s leading games conference and the only event in the world with a dedicated focus on the entire Nordic industry.

Following a very successful NG20+ in November, Nordic Game returns online with the spring edition of NG21 on 26-28 May.

Returnal

We’re extremely proud of our online program for NG21 May; the roster of talented industry speakers and talks is simply extraordinary.

The NG21 May live stream kicks-off on Wednesday, 26 May, but already on Tuesday, 25 May from 9:00 CET you can start enjoying this spring’s program with a diverse selection of more than 30 pre-recorded sessions.

Just select 25 May from the online schedule and choose which pre-recorded talk you’d like to watch – and to meet the speakers online during the conference, join the Nordic Game Discord and look for the Q&A schedule there.

Here are some highlights from pre-recorded program at NG21 May:

Unreal Uncovered: A Closer Look at Housemarque’s Returnal
Join Unreal Engine evangelist Ari Arnbjörnsson in conversation with Ethan Watson, Hannu Koivuranta and Tommi Wiik from Housemarque, discussing the development of their recently released game Returnal. You’ll hear about challenges they overcame, how they developed the game’s stunning particle effects, how they lit an ever-changing, atmospheric world and much more.

Fireside Chat: Amber’s Approach to External Development
This “fireside chat” featuring Amber CEO Mihai Pohontu will explore some of the benefits and pitfalls of external development, and how Amber approaches externalization, from the unique point of view of being both supplier and buyer.

Control

Weirder than Usual: Narrative Designing the Motel Sequences in Control
This talk from Brooke Maggs will dive into the world-building and narrative development process at Remedy Entertainment. It will focus on the “Oceanview Motel and Casino”, a transient area that reoccurs throughout the game Control. The talk will cover the evolution of the motel sequences, from idea to final experience.

MILE Rival Peak: A Retrospective and New Way to Expand an Audience
Rival Peak is a Massive Interactive Live Event (MILE) and collaboration between Genvid Technologies, Facebook, Pipework Studios and DJ2 Entertainment. Christopher Hamilton will talk about the lessons learned from the three month-long event that saw rapid growth and concluded with 200 million engagements and 100 million minutes viewed.

We hope you enjoy our entire program of pre-recorded and live talks this spring. Welcome to Nordic Game 2021!
